Healthcare co Oridion signs Japanese distribution deal

Market sources estimate it at $2 million over the next two years.

Patient monitor systems developer Oridion Systems Ltd. (SWX: ORIDN) has signed a new distributor agreement with Japanese medical equipment distributor IMI Co. Ltd. The company did not disclose the value of the deal, but market sources estimate it at $2 million over the next two years.

Oridion develops capnography monitoring products. Capnography is the measurement of carbon dioxide in human breath, which can be an initial sign of respiratory problems, especially in the case of patients that have just undergone surgery and have been moved to recovery rooms.

Oridion said that the agreement will give it the opportunity to further expand into the Japanese market with its line of Microstream capnography monitoring products. IMI will bundle sales of Capnostream 20 Smart Capnography monitors with IMI ventilators. IMI will offer the combined product under the label SafetySet, as an innovative solution to improve patient safety and make a clinical difference in patient care. IMI will begin sales across Japan immediately.

Oridion's share price was unchanged today in Zurich at CHF 9.12.
