Jerusalem Municipality freezes Holyland project permits

The three buildings still to be put up have been frozen for an unlimited period.

Sources inform "Globes" that the Jerusalem Municipality has frozen all permits for an unlimited period for digging and foundation work in the Holyland project. The issuing of permits for the project was initially frozen for 100 days in May.

The Planning and Building Committee of the Jerusalem Municipality made this decision yesterday regarding the three buildings still to be constructed in the controversial project overlooking the Malkah neighborhood of the capital.

The project, which many Jerusalemites consider to be an eyesore, has become notorious because of bribes allegedly taken by former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert when he was Jerusalem Mayor, former Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski and many other public figures. The police have recommended that Olmert, Lupolianski and others be indicted.
