67% of Israeli credit card holders make online purchases

The MasterCard survey found that 24% of Israelis increased online credit card purchases over the past year.

67% of Israeli credit card holders use their cards to make online purchases, a survey by MasterCard Worldwide Index of Consumer Purchasing Priorities for the first half of 2010 found. The online marketing survey was conducted for MasterCard by TNS using a representative sample of 500 Israelis.

The survey found that most Israeli cardholders find the Internet easy and convenient for using credit cards and thought that their level of use online will rise in the coming years. 38% of the survey's respondents said that the option of using a credit card in online transactions was the biggest advantage of paying by credit card. 24% of respondents who use their cards online said that their credit card purchases had increased over the past year.

The survey found that 78% of Israeli men use their credit cards for online purchases compared with 57% of women. 77% of Israelis aged 18-29 use their credit cards for online purchases compared with 70% of those aged 30-49, and 59% of Israelis over 50.
