The Likud MK wants the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee to discuss the topic again.
MK Carmel Shama (Likud) is demanding that an additional debate be held by the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee about raising gas and oil royalties. He claims that the voices of those supporting raising the royalties were not heard in yesterday's debate. Shama put in an official request to the committee on the topic today.
In yesterday's stormy debate the Knesset Economics Committee decided to oppose retroactively raising the royalties. MKs from various parties spoke as well as representatives of Noble Energy and even Yitzhak Tshuva himself, the controlling shareholder in Delek Group Ltd. (TASE:DLEKG).
Shama vehemently attacked the way committee conducted discussions yesterday insisting that the voices of those in favor of raising royalties was not heard. However, among those who spoke were MK Shelly Yacimovich (Labor) and Dov Henin (Hadash) who both support raising royalties although many of those present chose not to listen to their speeches.
