Employers, Histadrut agree on minimum wage hike

The minimum wage will rise to NIS 4,300 a month in two NIS 250 increments in July 2011 and October 2012.

Employers organizations and the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) today announced an agreement to raise the minimum wage to a gross monthly salary of NIS 4,300 in two NIS 250 increments in July 2011 and October 2012.

Two weeks ago, "Globes" reported that Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini was in talks on a minimum wage hike with employers. The Histadrut denied the report, but it was confirmed by Lahav Israel Association of the Self-Employed and the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce. The Histadrut said that official negotiations would only begin when Manufacturers Association of Israel president Shraga Brosh returned to Israel.
