Mazor sells another SpineAssist system in Germany

Tubingen University Hospitals will use the robotic system for spinal surgical procedures on neck vertebrae.

Mazor Robotics Ltd. (TASE:MZOR) has completed the sale of an another SpineAssist robotic system for spinal surgical procedures to Tubingen University Hospitals in Germany. The company did not disclose the size of the deal.

Tubingen University Hospitals will collaborate with Mazor in surgical procedures with the SpineAssist system on neck vertebrae. Mazor said that the Tubingen University's reputation and the types of surgical procedures carried out at the university hospital should favorably affect sales of the SpineAssist system in Europe.

Although the SpineAssist system is used for surgical procedures on neck vertebrae, most procedures are on lumbar vertebrae in the lower back. Procedures on neck vertebrae are more complicated and require greater precision, which Mazor believes that the SpineAssist can offer.

Mazor's share price rose 1.1% by midday to NIS 9.76, giving a market cap of NIS 197 million.
