S. Shlomo Holdings Ltd. (TASE:SHLD) has officially relaunched Opel cars in Israel. The company won the Opel import franchise last year, after it was held for many years by UMI Ltd.. Shlomo Holdings plans to sell 5,000 Opel cars in the first year, and to reach a 5% market share within two years.
Shlomo Holdings will first launch three models: the Opel Astra hatchback, super=mini Corsa, and Insignia large family car. All the models will be marketed at competitive prices, and well below industry expectations. A 1.4-liter 100-horsepower automatic Corsa will cost about NIS 100,000. A 1.6-liter 115-horsepower gasoline engine Astra will cost NIS 125,000, and the basic model will cost NIS 122,000. The turbo 2-liter Insignia sedan will cost NIS 175,000 and the Insignia station wagon will cost NIS 185,000.
Opel cars will be marketed at three new agencies in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa.
