Doctors suspend strike until after Passover holiday

No progress was made in talks between the doctors and Ministry of Finance today.

The Israel Medical Association announced today that even though no significant progress was made in talks with the Ministry of Finance this morning, it is suspending strike action until after the Passover holiday. The doctors claim the disruptions are being halted out of a sense of social responsibility.

A spokesman for the Israel Medical Association said, "We hope that this window of time will bring the Ministry of Finance to its senses so that it can formulate a genuine plan to solve the problem and save the public health system."

The Ministry of Finance claimed that substantial progress in talks would only be achieved if the Israel Medical Association removed its demand for an across the board 50% pay hike for all doctors.
