Yuli Ofer's widow complicates will dispute

Ruth Ofer, the late tycoon's third wife, also has claims on the estate, and has submitted documents to the Family Affairs Court.

Yuli Ofer's third wife and widow, Ruth Ofer, has entered the inheritance fray between his children, Doron and Leora. Sources inform ''Globes'' that Ruth, who is not the siblings' mother, has submitted to the Family Affairs Court an affidavit stating her position on the appointment of Adv. Avi Efrat as temporary manager of Yuli Ofer's estate. She will later file an affidavit on the dispute between Doron and Leora over the distribution of his estate.

Sources close to Ruth claim that, until now, the media has presented the inheritance fight as a two-sided affair between Yuli Ofer's children. However, Ruth also has rights to property bequeathed her by her late husband. The rights are both specific rights stated in the will, and general rights derived by law relating to the equitable sharing of resources between a couple.

"Ruth is an important player in the dispute, and she will have something to say in it. Her position will greatly influence the results," said a source.

Ruth Ofer and her lawyers are reportedly examining her independent legal rights as the spouse of Yuli, in order to formulate her position in the pending legal battle between his heirs.

Yuli Ofer's first wife, Miriam, is the mother of Doron and Leora.
