Anobit needs a buyer, Apple needs flash memories

Anobit is struggling to develop its product line following the expiration of agreements with computer giants.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that some of Anobit Ltd's cooperation agreement with computer giants for its flash memory Genesis Solid State Drives (SSD) for enterprise storage systems have expired and the company has not been able to develop its product line. Anobit may be on the right track to succeed in the enterprise computing solutions market, but to do so it needs large investment and energy to drive the company forward. Neither of these elements is available to the Israeli start-up.

The connection between Anobit and Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) centers on Anobit's product line for the end-user, its NAND-based embedded flash controllers. In this field, Anobit succeeded in developing an especially successful technology that improves the reliability of memory and lowers the price and electricity consumption.

The question is, however, what will Apple do with Anobit's second product line - SSDs. Anobit has signed several collaborations with computing giants to integrate the product in their storage systems, giving Anobit an entry card into a hot field.
