Tnuva workers sanctions leave empty dairy shelves

Retailers are already reporting shortages of basic Tnuva products, including milk, white cheese, and Eshel and Gil yogurts.

Labor sanctions at Tnuva Food Industries Ltd. are causing severe disruptions in deliveries of the company's dairy products to more than 500 retailers in southern Israel, and to scores of retailers in central Israel as far north as Netanya. The disruptions are part of the labor sanctions taken by Tnuva employees in the south, but confusion between employees affected deliveries elsewhere as well.

Retailers are already reporting shortages of basic Tnuva products, including milk, white cheese, and Eshel and Gil yogurts. The shortages are on top of the nationwide shortage of chocolate milk, cottage cheese, and Yoplait yoghurts, which Tnuva's employees stopped delivering last week.

The delivery disruptions are estimated to be costing Tnuva several million shekels a day in lost sales.
