Mobile instant messaging co Fring fires 25% of employees

The company will be re-hiring ahead of the launch of its product for business customers..

Mobile instant messaging company Fring has fired 10 employees, 25% of its employees. The measure is being initiated by Fring's new CEO Roy Timor-Rousso who assumed his position at the end of 2011.

The layoffs are being made to position Fring as a company providing cloud-based services to professionals and companies. Timor-Rousso says that the aim is to promote services for entertainment on the basis of a monthly fee.

The business customers version is expected to be launched towards the end of the year and after Passover the company will hire new employees for this step. Fring has also raised millions of dollars from its investors recently.

Last May, Fring raised $10 million and according to IVC, the start up has raised $35 million to date.
