Israel launch of Samsung Galaxy S3 delayed

The smartphone is to be launched worldwide Tuesday but has not been approved for sale in Israel by the Communications Ministry.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be launched in many countries worldwide on Tuesday but not in Israel after the Ministry of Communications has not yet approved the new smartphone, thus prohibiting its sale in Israel either through stores or mobile operators.

Suny Electronics Ltd. (TASE: SUNY), the importer of Samsung mobile handsets, had already scheduled a press conference for Tuesday to launch the Samsung Galaxy S3 and unveil its marketing plan, and probably also publish its price. The company will now have to find a solution for this last minute delay.

Sources in the Ministry of Communications confirmed to "Globes" that the new smartphone had yet to be approved.

Suny was unavailable for comment on this report.
