Amikam Cohen to replace Ilan Ben-Dov as Partner chairman

Following its reacquisition of Partner, Hutchison is appointing the carrier's former CEO as chairman. Meanwhile, shares in Suny and Scailex are soaring.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd. (NYSE: HTX; HKSE: 2332) will appoint Amikam Cohen as chairman of Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR), replacing Ilan Ben-Dov, following its reacquisition of the Orange franchisee through Scailex Corporation (TASE: SCIX; Pink Sheets:SCIXF) last night.

Ben-Dov will leave Partner completely following the takeover by Hutchison. Amikam Cohen was a co-founder of Partner and was its CEO until late 2006. He was also behind the appointment of its current CEO, Haim Romano.

Meanwhile, on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, shares in Scailex are up 59.5%, at NIS 11.5, and shares in Suny Electronics Ltd. (TASE: SUNY), through which Ilan Ben-Dov held Scailex, are soaring 124.62%, at NIS 7.179.

Partner's share price rose 3.5% in early trading on the the TASE today to NIS 19.50, after rising 11.1% on Nasdaq yesterday, ahead of the deal, to $4.99%, giving a market cap of $776 million. <
