Golan Telecom reaches 50,000 subscribers

The carrier is expanding its call center, customer service center and hiring more logistics staff to cope with demand.

Golan Telecom Ltd. today announced that it has recruited more than 50,000 subscribers, three weeks after launch. "Since the launch of our two mobile plans - NIS 99 per month without restrictions, including international calls, and NIS 9.99 for 60 minutes of calls per month and 60 SMSs - the company has recruited more than 50,000 new subscribers," it said in a statement.

Golan Telecom launched on May 14, but there have been many customer complaints about the ability to switch to it and about reaching customer service. The carrier said in response, "Due to the unprecedented response and impressive recruitment by Golan Telecom, there has been overload, which caused delays, including in the registration process and partly due to obstacles to switching to Golan Telecom by some competitors."

It added that it was working hard to solve the problems, expand its call center, customer service center, online service and Facebook service, as well as hiring more logistics staff.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Communications ordered Golan Telecom to stop offering international calls services until it obtains an operating permit. The company nevertheless published the list of countries to which international calls can be made. The list includes Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK, the US, and the Vatican.
