Tower and Phasor Solutions have a new phased array satellite communications technology based on Tower's SiGe process platforms.
Specialty foundry Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) and Phasor Solutions Inc. today announced a new phased array satellite communications technology based on Tower's SiGe process platforms. The technology is targeting the multi-billion dollar satellite communications and radar market.
Phasor's new proprietary technology allows aircraft, ships, trucks, trains, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and other moving vehicles to communicate with stationary satellites, or antennas that track moving satellites, with no moving parts. Technically, the system is able to self-align to a desired signal source and track it in real time, which has never been done before. The system uses TowerJazz's high performance 155GHz SiGe BiCMOS process to manufacture its transceiver chipset for mobile broadband service on moving vehicles.
