Outbrain ad platform beats out Facebook, YouTube

Israeli content discovery platform Outbrain was the third most popular advertising platform in the US in September 2012.

Israeli content discovery platform Outbrain was the third most popular advertising platform in the US in September 2012, topping Yahoo!, Facebook, and YouTube, reports Comscore. Outbrain had 164.8 million unique visitors in the US and an exposure rate of 74.9% in September. YouTube had 163.5 million unique visitors and an exposure rate of 74.4%.

ShareThis, which has a content sharing platform for social networks, was in first place, with 220 million unique visitors and an exposure rate of 94%. Google was in second place, 178.8 million unique visitors and an exposure rate of 81.3%.

Outbrain, founded by CEO Yaron Galai and CTO Ori Lahav, has grown rapidly, and has tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue. The company has raised $64 million, and was named by "Globes" as the most promising start-up of 2011.
