Former Accountant General Shuki Oren today slammed the Ministry of Finance and Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz and won strong support from former ministry officials and Steinitz aides, as the firestorm over the 2012 deficit continues.
On today's entry on his Facebook page, Oren referred to an article he wrote in "Globes" a year ago, in which called for the burial of the biennial budget, which Steinitz is so proud of. Today, Oren wrote, "A year ago, I wrote that it was obvious that the Ministry of finance would not be able to meet the deficit target. It is hard to blame the finance minister, since he is an opportunistic politician. The Ministry of Finance's management did nothing for a year to prevent the foreseen scenario. We now see the economic damage caused by a weak Ministry of Finance!"
Oren's article has chalked up "likes" from former Steinitz media adviser Yuval Lidor, former Ministry of Finance director general Yarom Ariav, and others.
