Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1) has unveiled a new tactical man-portable communication intelligence (COMINT) System - the ELK-6060. The new High Accuracy Geo-Location system allows operational combat units to perform on-the-move real-time interception as well as geo-location of hostile force communications.
ELK- 6060, developed by IAI unit ELTA Systems Ltd., is designed to address the need for real-time, high-accuracy location of hostile communications within the fighting units' tactical vicinity. The system dramatically reduces the sensor-to-shooter cycle and the risks to friendly forces.
ELK-6060 is comprised of lightweight sensors installed either on the individual soldier's gear or on combat unit vehicles, utilizing the combatants' positions and advancement throughout the battle-zone to provide a mobile and distributed sensor array. This array accurately pin-points hostile communication radios by employing Differential Time Of Arrival (DTOA) techniques.
The sensors may be carried either by the combatants or alternatively set up unattended as required by the operational scenario. Additional sensors carried by small UAVs and/or other vehicles may be integrated into the system. The ELK-6060 system, managed by the force commander, provides a tactical situation awareness and a real time communication Electronic Order of Battle (EOB) picture, displayed on the force commander hand-held command & control device to allow rapid operational decisions making.
IAI said that the new ELK-6060 system is expected to introduce a brand new and innovative trend for light-weight tactical level command and control capabilities.
