Israeli airlines resume flights

It will take a few days until timetables get back to routine, and 15,000 stranded passengers reach their destinations.

The Israeli airlines resumed activity last night, after reaching agreement with the Ministry of Finance on ending the strike that was provoked by the government's decision to sign the Open Skies agreement with the EU. It will take a few more days until flight timetables get back to routine, and until the fifteen thousand passengers stranded in Israel or overseas reach their destinations.

Yesterday evening, after the end of the strike was announced, six El Al and Israir flights took off. From 5:00 this morning Arkia too resumed regular service. About 20 flights of the Israeli airlines will take off this morning from Ben Gurion Airport, carrying about 2,800 passengers.

The Airports Authority reinforced staff this morning, but some flights have still been cancelled or delayed. The airlines recommend enquiring about flights before making the journey to the airport, and in any case to turn up four hours before the flight time.
