Meretz chair: Lapid not worthy of being finance minister

Meretz leader MK Zahava Gal-On told "Globes TV" that Yair Lapid is not keeping the promises that he made to the public but is implementing the policies of the finance ministry officials.

"Yair Lapid's budget bill is a bill at the expense of the weak because who is he harming? He is harming young families, young parents and their children," Meretz leader MK Zahava Gal-On told "Globes TV."

She said, "Where will the growth engines come from when they are cutting child allowances, dental treatment for children, afternoon schools for children? Somebody has simply gone crazy here."

Gal-On added, "You need courage to cope with the defense budget and courage to tell the government that money will not be handed out to settlers in such an indiscriminate way. You need courage to tell the company owners that receive tax exemptions indiscriminately."

"It's clear that Lapid is not worthy of being finance minister. He enjoys enormous public credit and has made promises that the public expect him to fulfill. But he has done a 180 degrees u-turn and there is a feeling that he has caved into the finance ministry officials because these are their policies."
