Soluto enables remote management of mobile device security

The new service enables a small business to check remotely whether, for example, an employee's iPad or iPhone has a passcode.

Israeli start-up company Soluto is now entering the field of mobile, with its network software allowing remote support for iPhones and iPads. The support will help both private users and IT managers in small and medium-size businesses to update applications, to check battery levels and free storage space, and, no less importantly, to check the device's security status, such as the use of a suitable passcode and so on, all remotely. In addition, it is possible to determine whether the device will allow call roaming and surfing via a mobile connection overseas, as well as to set the time interval after which the device will be locked, and whether it can be wiped clean remotely if it is stolen.

In practice, security has been neglected for iPhones and iPads in some cases. 37% of the employees in the small businesses that are Soluto customers have no basic protection on their mobile device at the level of a simple passcode.

The new service enables IT managers to monitor and manage the devices used by the workers in their enterprises, while private customers can manage their own devices and those of their families or friends. Soluto makes clear that the service preserves users' privacy, and so there is no access to personal items such as pictures, contacts, and messages.
