Burger Ranch to open in Ariel

Burger Ranch will take up the option refused by McDonald's, which does not open branches over the Green Line.

Burger Ranch owner Eli Orgad has announced that he will open a branch in the West Bank city of Ariel, in response to McDonald's Israel's refusal to do so.

Minister of the Economy Naftali Bennett announced on his Facebook page that he would be the first customer at Burger Ranch when it opens in Ariel. "I promise to come and eat the first hamburger at the branch on the day it opens. Congratulations to Eli, congratulations to Burger Ranch," he said.

Shas chairman MK Eli Yishai says on his Facebook page that, while he has no plans to go the new Burger Ranch branch in Ariel, he will be a loyal customer. "I promise to order the first delivery from Burger Ranch's Ariel branch to the office of Omri Padan at McDonald's together with a map of Israel in the hope that when he eats the Israeli chain's food, he will learn about the country's up-to-date borders," he said.

Yesterday, it was reported that McDonald's Israel refuses to open a branch in new mall that Rami Levy Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI) is building in Ariel, because the franchise has a longstanding policy of not establishing branches beyond the Green Line.
