Uri Ariel: The key to stopping the rise in home prices is massive building in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria.
"The key to immediately stopping the rise in home prices is massive building in Jerusalem and in the settlement blocs in Judea and Samaria," Minister of Housing and Construction Uri Ariel told the Knesset Finance Committee today.
"Not building in Jerusalem drastically raises prices, drives away young couples, and is liable to result in breaking the demographic balance in the city. Home prices rose 41% in 2008-12, compared with a 27% rise in the rest of the country," Ariel said.
"All the measures for solving the housing will bear fruit in 1-2 years, whereas in Judea and Samaria, we can immediately market tens of thousands of housing units."
