Samsung Israel sets up smart TV development lab

Samsung Israel smart TV content manager Aviv Hod said, "We at Samsung believe that developers are the most expensive resource behind smart devices."

Samsung Israel has set up a smart TV development lab in Europark at Yakum north of Herzliya. The first smart TV lab in Israel will allow app developers to work on computers running the latest version of Samsung's open TV environment (SDK) and check the performance of their apps on a range of the South Korean company's TV models.

At present TV app developers are forced to make do with checking their products on simulated computer models, which is not close enough to the real feeling of running applications on TV with the remote control in one's hands.

Samsung Israel smart TV content manager Aviv Hod said, "We at Samsung believe that developers are the most expensive resource behind smart devices. For this reason we have also launched a broad academic project within which we are currently working with students throughout the country on a final project for smart TV apps."
