Lacoon Mobile Security raises $8m

The mobile device security developer also announced the launch of its MobileFortress product, which will enable enterprises to protect themselves from cyber espionage and cybercrime.

Lacoon Mobile Security, which protects organizations from advanced mobile threats, has raised $8 million in a financing round led by Index Ventures together with existing angel investors including Shlomo Kramer, co-founder of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) and CEO and founder of Imperva.

The mobile device security developer also announced the launch of its MobileFortress product, which will enable enterprises to fully embrace mobility, while remaining protected from cyber espionage and cybercrime.

Lacoon Security CEO Michael Shaulov founded the company in 2011 and its team includes veterans of the IDF Unit 8200 signal intelligence and code decryption unit and civilian IT companies. Headquartered in San Francisco, the company's development office is in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv.

In addition to Kramer other angel investors include Mickey Boodaei, co-founder and CEO of Trusteer and co-founder of Imperva, and Rakesh Loonkar: co-founder and president of Trusteer, co-founder of OneSecure and investor in Palo Alto Networks.
