Garantia Data has raised $9 million in a series A funding round led by Bain Capital Ventures and Carmel Ventures, bringing its total funding to date to $13 million.
Garantia Data also announced that it already has more than 1,000 paying customers for its Redis Cloud service. The company said that its customers benefit from infinite seamless scalability, true high-availability, stable top performance and fully automated operations. The service is currently available over public clouds including Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Windows Azure, as well as platform-as-a-service (PaaS) providers such as Heroku and AppFog.
With offices in Tel Aviv and Santa Clara, California, the company was founded in 2011 by CEO Ofer Bengal and CTO Yiftach Shoolman - both serial entrepreneurs.
Bain Capital Ventures managing director Salil Deshpande said, “Redis rules in-memory NoSQL. It is among top three database choices by developers and has become a cornerstone of new applications. We invested in Garantia Data because the reliability and painless scalability of their commercial Redis offering makes Redis adoption feasible for enterprises.”
Carmel Ventures general partner Ronen Nir said, “The comprehensive technology developed by Garantia Data opens the door for true in-memory NoSQL computing, and is a game-changer."
Garantia Data CEO Ofer Bengal said, "Redis is one of the fastest growing databases in the NoSQL space and we are continuing to see tremendous potential in the market. Being a significant contributor to open source Redis and at the same time serving our more than one thousand customers commercially, we know exactly how to adapt Redis to enterprise needs. The current round of financing will enable us to further enhance Redis Cloud’s core capabilities in order to meet the unique use case that Redis offers for both developers and large IT organizations."
