Britain's commercial television network ITV has bought the "Rising Star" format produced by Keshet Media Group and Tedy Productions. ITV was the first commercial network to air talent shows, such as "X Factor" and "Britain's Got Talent. Keshet International Ltd. subsidiary Keshet UK will jointly produce "Rising Star" with ITV Studios.
ITV director of entertainment and comedy Elaine Bedell said, "It's rare that you find a genuinely innovative new entertainment format - but Keshet have come up with one and I'm very pleased that it will now be on ITV. The bold real-time voting element means that viewers’ votes control every twist and turn of the live program - and that makes for an incredibly dramatic, emotional and exciting show." She added that 2013 would be ITV's best year and said that she was pleased to add the format to the network's shows.
Keshet International managing director Alon Shtruzman said, "ITV's track record in launching globally successful music and talent shows makes it the natural UK home for the groundbreaking 'Rising Star'. The UK's leading commercial network joins a large cast of leading broadcasters to come on board, and we look forward to working with its brilliant team to bring this interactive live experience to British audiences."
ITV is the latest network to buy "Rising Star", following US network ABC, France's M6, Russia's Rossiya 1, and networks in Italy, Germany, Hungary, and Scandinavia.
