Low-cost carrier easyJet plc (LSE:EZJ) will operate six weekly flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport starting in the summer, reports "Yediot Ahronot."
The route between Ben Gurion Airport and Paris will be the ninth European destination offered by easyJet. In recent weeks, the low cost carrier announced new routes to Milan, starting May, London Gatwick starting April and Berlin starting February.
Currently easyJet offers flights from Tel Aviv to London Luton (up to 11 frequencies per week), Manchester (2-3 a week), Geneva (5 times a week), Basel (4 times a week), and Rome (twice a week).
The new routes that will begin operating in 2014 will make easyJet the second largest foreign carrier operating out of Ben Gurion Airport.
The abundance of new routes on offer is a result of the Open Skies agreement signed between Israel and the EU earlier this year.
Another low cost carrier making major inroads into the Israeli market is Hungarian airline Wizz Air, which offers flights from Tel Aviv - to Budapest in Hungary, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca in Romania, Vilnius in Lithuania, Warsaw and Katowice in Poland, Lviv, Ukraine, and Sofia in Bulgaria.
