The building will be one of four high-rises in the northeast corner of the Defense Ministry headquarters compound.

An ambitious plan for four high-rise buildings in central Tel Aviv, called the Keren Hakirya project, has been approved for validation by the Tel Aviv District Committee. The plan on a large northeast lot of the Ministry of Defense Headquarters compound includes an 80-floor high office building, and a 50-floor office building as well as two 45-floor residential high-rises. The lot is at the corner of Shaul Hamelekh Boulevard, and Menachem Begin Street.

The plan, a joint initiative of the Israel Land Authority and Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality was approved three years ago by the Municipality's Planning and Building Committee and was approved for deposit last year by the Tel Aviv District Committee.

The entire project of four buildings will consist of 750 apartments totaling 59,400 square meters, 149,000 square meters of office space, and 23,000 square meters of commercial space. Some of the office space may be used for commerce or as hotels.

The 80 floor building will require permission from the Civil Aviation Authority and if this is not forthcoming it will be reduced to a 50-floor building. The planned new building will not be the tallest in Israel, as the fourth Azrieli tower, to be built on the site of Beit Yediot Ahronot, will be 85-floors high.

The project, designed by architects Isaac Halfon and Alan Aranoff, also includes 15,000 square meters of public spaces with access to roads and planned mass transit systems as well as a pedestrian bridge to the neighboring Midtown complex.
