Arkia signs $500m MoU to buy Airbus planes

Arkia plans purchasing two to four passenger aircraft, for long-distance flights.

Israeli airline Arkia Airlines Ltd.has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with aircraft manufacturer Airbus to purchase two to four A330-900neo passenger aircraft, to be used for long-distance flights. The deal is worth an estimated $500 million.

A330-900neo aircraft are considered the most efficient and cost-effective in their category. These aircraft will join the four A321neo aircraft that Arkia ordered in 2012, and which are scheduled to be delivered in 2017.

Arkia CEO Nir Dagan said, “The new aircraft will be a key asset, and will help Arkia develop routes efficiently to long-haul destinations at competitive prices. The A330-900neo will offer our passengers the final word in the industry, and will ensure comfortable, luxurious, direct, long-distance flights.”
