At the end of March 2017, the average salary in Israel in a full time position reached NIS 10,449 (in current prices), the Central Bureau of Statistics reports. This is a 5% rise on an annualized basis. Figures at the end 2016 showed that salaries were rising by 4.7% on an annualized basis.
This upward trend is taking place despite a surprising fall in salaries of employees in the IT and communications sector. Over the first quarter public administration led the economy in terms of new jobs added - 2.8% - while agriculture continues to shed jobs - 3.5% at an annualized rate.
The average salary has been growing strongly, in part because of the rise in the minimum wage.
