Brainsway installation in US unreported in Israel

Brainsway has installed a Deep TMS device for the treatment of depression in St. Louis.

Brainsway Ltd. (TASE:BRIN) has installed its first Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) device for the treatment of depression at Premier Psychiatric Group's TMS unit in St. Louis.

The press release about the installation was by Lincoln, Nebraska-based Premier Psychiatric Group on February 10. Brainsway did not notify the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) about the matter, apparently on the basis of a legal opinion.

Premier Psychiatric Group said that the partnership with Brainsway "brings the first Brainsway Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) machine machine to Missouri that offers individuals who suffer from depression a noninvasive alternative to antidepressants."

"The dTMS system is appealing to psychiatrists and patients because it offers a way to treat depression without medications that typically are taken throughout a patient’s life," said St. Louis psychiatrist Arturo C. Taca. "Electro-convulsive therapy (ECT) is the gold standard for treatment resistant depression but must be done in the hospital with anesthesia. TMS is an outpatient procedure that has little disruption to a patient’s daily life with minimal side effects and is a safe, effective and practical way to offer a noninvasive treatment for major depression."

Premier Psych adds, "In other countries, mainly in Europe, Brainsway dTMS is frequently used to treat major depression but has been studied for a variety of other disorders including Bipolar Depression, Chronic Pain, Smoking Cessation, Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), Autism, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)."
