Canadian billionaire buys Tel Aviv apartment for NIS 43.5m

This is the 13th apartment Moti Maximoff has bought in the Meier on Rothschild Tower.

Canadian-Jewish businessman has bought a 13th apartment in Tel Aviv's Meier on Rothschild Tower, buying a full-floor 800-square meter apartment with 48 square meters of balconies on the 31st floor of the 42 building for NIS 43.5 million. He bought the apartment through his company, Ironstone Capital.

In July 2013, Maximoff bought 12 apartments in the building for more than NIS 100 million. He will reside in one of these apartments, a full-floor 800-square meter apartment with four 12-meter square meter balconies on the 29th floor, bought for NIS 44 million.

The price of the 31st floor apartment is NIS 53,000 per square meter, compared with NIS 53,400 per square meter for the 29th floor apartment of the same size bought six months ago.

The building is owned by Berggruen Residential Ltd. (TASE:BRGN.B1), owned by US billionaire Nicholas Berggruen, and Hagag Group Real Estate Development Ltd. (TASE: HGG), controlled by Tzahi and Ido Haga and Achim Cohen Ltd. It was designed by Richard Meier and the chief contractor is Dori Group Ltd. (TASE: DORI).
