Low-cost carrier easyJet plc (LSE: EZJ) launched its new Tel Aviv-London Gatwick route yesterday. EasyJet is operating three weekly flights to Gatwick Airport. This new Tel Aviv-London route is in addition to the 11 flights a week easyJet currently operates between Tel Aviv and London Luton airport. easyJet flights from Tel Aviv to Gatwick are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Luton airport is north of London, while Gatwick, the UK's second largest airport is south of the British capital.
Tel Aviv-Gatwick is the 7th route easyJet operates from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. Currently easyJet offers flights from Tel Aviv to London Luton (up to 11 frequencies per week), Manchester (2-3 a week), Geneva (5 times a week), Basel (4 times a week), Rome (twice a week) and Berlin (3 times a week). easyJet UK commercial manager Hugh Aitken said,"easyJet is fully committed to strengthening the connections between the UK, Europe and Israel and offering a second London airport will help us do that. We are the second largest non-Israeli carrier operating in Israel and have seen strong growth since we launched our flights to Tel Aviv in 2009. Tel Aviv is a fast growing tourist destination that can not only provide a relaxed beach break but also offers a modern, vibrant city which is brimming with cultural and historical treasures."
