Sources inform ''Globes'' that Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq: FB) has begun hiring for its Israeli development center. The new employees will join the operations of Onavo Ltd., which Facebook acquired for $150 million in October 2013. Facebook is seeking product designers, operational engineers, database engineers, and software engineers. The development center, which will also handle sales, is scheduled to open at the Ramat Gan Diamond Exchange in April.
More than a month ago, Facebook terminated a work agreement with the Israeli placement company that worked with Onavo, after bringing in its own headhunters to find employees for the Israeli development center. In the past few weeks, Facebook has also been seeking a sales manager for the Israeli center. Facebook's Dublin human resources center will continue to be responsible for the company's activity in Israel.
Onavo, founded in 2010, had 40 employees at its offices in Israel and California when it was acquired. It developed an app to help users save money on data transmissions on their smartphones.
