Israeli start-up Magisto is launching its Shot app as part of Facebook's newly introduced Messenger Platform. Magisto, which has 55 million registered users, allows the production of short video clips based on family photos. Shot advances messaging to the next wave of transformative technology by automatically turning a single photo and a text message into a powerful and entertaining video story. The Magisto Shot app is available for iOS and Android.
Using Magisto's patented AI technology, EmotionSense, text and photos are automatically analyzed to produce a video story with music, motion and professional style effects. Shot offers infinite possibilities for personalized expression, creating emotionally enhanced communications that stand out in a sea of plain text and photo messages.
Magisto co-founder and CEO Oren Boiman said, "Messaging has been continually evolving from its plain text beginnings to more expressive forms of communicating using photos and emoticons. However, these enhancements don't always succeed in conveying the true depth and richness of human emotion. Emoticons somewhat improve plain text, but adding a smiley is like a drum roll that tells you to laugh at a joke's punchline."
He added, "Magisto Shot makes messaging much more powerful than it is today by using video to make your message genuinely funny, or happy or sad so you can truly show how you feel. We are excited to work with the Messenger team to help people share this new way of communicating with 'Moving Messages.' And with hundreds of millions of users, Messenger is the place for people to express themselves with their friends and close contacts."
