Hotel magnate David Fattal won the Israel Airports Authority tender to construct and operate a private jet terminal at Ben Gurion Airport.
Fattal and K.M. Global Holdings' joint bid beat the competition and the two firms will build the new general aviation terminal alongside the Masada Lounge in Terminal 1, which currently serves private jets flying to Israel, including VIPs arriving for official visits and medical flights.
The new terminal will be built on 1,300 sq. m. of Terminal 1's arrivals hall. The Israel Airports Authority said the terminal will have access to Ben Gurion's air space and the ground space near the Masada Lounge.
Among its assorted features, the new terminal will house guest rooms, conference rooms, duty-free stores, an area for the flight crew and security personnel, border control, and a fast lane for arrivals and departures.
"As in every leading airport for international flights, the general aviation terminal was intended as a response to the growth in operations of both private jet flights and VIP travel, and it will improve the service provided to passengers," the Israel Airports Authority said today.
David Fattal's spokesperson said, "Fattal has abundant experience in setting up the tourist ventures which will characterize the new terminal. We are excited to have won the tender and we will work to implement in this project the knowledge and assets we gained in other projects we have performed in Israel and abroad, in order to create one of the best terminals in the world."
