Inspectors conducted an audit at Tnuva's Alon Tabor plant to see if the weight error found by a consumer was deliberate.

Tnuva Food Industries Ltd. is suspected of selling underweight packages of cottage cheese. After the incriminating clip put online by a consumer at the beginning of the week, it appears that Tnuva's apologies and compensation have not satisfied the Ministry of the Economy.

As reported by Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), Ministry of the Economy inspectors yesterday conducted an unscheduled audit at the Tnuva plant in Alon Tabor, after Minister of the Economy Aryeh Deri this week ordered his ministry to examine the matter and check whether consumers had been misled.

The inspectors checked the technical equipment on the site used to fill the tubs with what is supposed to be 125 grams of cottage cheese. The inspectors conducted tests and took samples to determine whether a technical malfunction was involved, as alleged by Tnuva, or whether the underweight tubs were a result of deliberate action. There are no conclusion findings yet from these tests.

Tnuva said in response, "According to the announcement by the Ministry of the Economy, a test was conducted of the machine at the Alon Tabor dairy by inspectors from the Ministry of the Economy. At the same time, the investigative committee appointed by Tnuva's CEO is continuing its consideration of the source and scope of the malfunction."
