Czech Republic Defense Minister Martin Stropnicky said yesterday that his country is procuring eight ELM 2084 MMR radars from Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd's (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1) ELTA unit, AP reports. The radar is used in the Iron Dome short range missile protection system that has proven so effective in shooting down missiles launched at Israel from Gaza.
Stropnicky said that the deal is worth $114 million, according to AP. IAI ELTA will reportedly deliver the radar systems between 2019 and 2021. They will replace obsolete Soviet radar systems in protecting the Czech Republic's airspace between altitudes of 100 meters and 3,000 meters.
