The McCann Tel Aviv chairman has asked the Antitrust Authority for a pre-ruling on terms for a possible acquisition.

Is Ilan Shiloach planning to finally abandon the advertising industry? Sources inform "Globes" that the chairman of McCann Tel Aviv recently requested a pre-ruling from Antitrust Authority director general Prof. David Gilo on what terms he would be allowed to acquire control of Channel 10.

It appears that Shiloach is considering the possibility of acquiring 51% of the channel's shares personally, rather than through McCann. Gilo is expected to begin an inquiry to make sure that Shiloach no longer has any official position in McCann, and that clear separation can be created between him and the group he managed for more than a decade.

If his attempt makes real progress, and Shiloach get Gilo's blessing, it will signify that his era in the advertising industry has officially ended. Although he has moved aside in recent years, leaving day-to-day management in the hands of the managers he selected for this purpose, he still remains the figure most identified with the group, and has actively intervened at various important times when it was necessary - for example the probe by the Antitrust Authority director general of McCann's power in the media market.
