Iron Dome intercepted a rocket in the south last night fired by an ISIS affiliated group.

The Israel Air Force hit four Hamas terror infrastructure targets in the Gaza strip early Wednesday morning in retaliation for rocket fire over Israel on Tuesday night. The "Amr Hadad Brigade" associated with ISIS cells in the Gaza strip took responsibility for the rocket attack, which was intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system above Kibbutz Nitzanim between Ashkelon and Ashdod. Before the missile was brought down sirens were heard in Ashdod, the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, and Yavne Region and the Lachish region. This was the first attack in these regions since Operation Protective Edge ended in August 2014. No damage was reported.

The IDF Spokesman said, "The Israel Defense Forces will not tolerate rocket fire by terrorist organizations over the territory of the State of Israel and will continue to operate harshly against any attempt to violate the peace of the southern cities and villages. The Hamas terror organization is the address for responsibility."

Last night's rocket fire follows the firing of a missile from Gaza on Monday, which fell on open ground in the south. No siren was heard because there was no fear that the rocket would fall in a populated area.

There was also rocket fire 10 days ago when a missile landed in the center of Sderot, damaging a bus and a nearby building. A 40-year old woman was treated for shock. Several hours before, Iron Dome had intercepted a missile above Ashkelon.
