With the ground already soaked, drivers are warned to beware of venturing along flooded roads that cross wadis.

After several days respite and glorious winter sunshine, the heavy rains are expected to resume tonight and last through to the end of the week. Meteo-Tech forecasts between 100 millimeters and 150 millimeters of rain in the coming few days in the north and center of the country, and with the ground sodden from the very heavy rains earlier this month, drivers are warned not to venture along flooded roads, especially those that cross wadis.

Six people have already died in weather-related incidents over the past few weeks including the young couple trapped in a water filled elevator in Tel Aviv's Hatikvah quarter on Saturday. The other four fatalities involved drivers trapped in their vehicles and dragged into flooded wadis including two people on Sunday when flash floods hit the northern Sharon region.

Most parts of northern Israel have already had 50% of their annual rainfall and the expected precipitation in the coming few days will also take most regions in the center of the country over the 50% mark.
