A new joint service will enable shared taxi ordering to and from railway stations.

Israel Railways and the Gett taxi hailing app (formerly GetTaxi) have announced that they will cooperate to offer passengers a shared transportation solution - hailing taxicabs to and from railway stations, with several passengers splitting the fare.

The service will be launched during the last quarter of 2016 through the Gett and Israel Railways apps and will link between train passengers and taxi hailing app users. Shared ordering of a single taxi will lower fares, while payment will be made via the Gett app.

Israeli Railways CEO Boaz Tzafrir said, "We believe that cooperation with Gett will bolster use of Israel Railway services, will help many passengers arrive at railway stations quickly, conveniently and at a lower price, and enjoy a better travelling experience."

Gett Israel CEO Mark Oun added, "Cooperation with Israel Railways is the first-of-its-kind shared transportation venue in Israel. Its main goals are to decrease traffic congestion, while lowering prices and making the use of taxicabs preferable to private cars."
