Five terrorists were killed but eight others escaped back to Gaza.

As Operation Protective Edge moves into its tenth day, Israel has thwarted a major infiltration into Israel by 13 terrorists. The Gazans tried to enter Israel through a tunnel in the Eshkol region near Sufa. IDF soldiers uncovered the attempt and killed five of the terrorists, with the others escaping in the tunnel back towards Gaza.

The incident came as both sides agreed a UN proposal for a humanitarian cease-fire from 10 am to 3 pm on Thursday. Before the cease-fire went into effect there was heavy rocket fire on all of Israel from Gaza and the in Tel Aviv region alone four rockets were successfully intercepted by Iron Dome.

Yesterday the Israeli Navy killed four children who were playing soccer on the beach near Gaza City. The IDF had previously warned citizens to vacate the area but Hamas had ignored the warnings. The deaths have made major headlines in the international media.

Meanwhile contacts continue for a cease-fire with Hamas demanding a return to the understandings after Operation Pillar of Defense and the re-release of all Hamas prisoners set free when Gilad Shalit was returned but who were detained again last week.
