The IDF yesterday announced that it had signed an agreement with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. to buy thousands of shoulder-held lightweight missiles launchers for use by the infantry. The IDF says that the new launchers have been specially adapted to its infantry needs, following a two-year development and operational specification process aimed at reducing the weight of the launcher by 40%. The reduced weight will facilitate greater flexibility by infantry forces in land maneuvers when operating the missiles on the battlefield.
