According to Ben Gurion Airport passenger traffic reports published last week, Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. was second in the number of passengers. These results put Israir ahead of Turkish Airlines, the third most popular airline. The number one carrier, in terms of passenger number, was El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL).
Over 92,000 passengers flew with Israir in October, 134% up from last year. The company's market share doubled from last year, to 5.4%. Since the beginning of 2016, the number of Israir passengers has grown over 26%, compared with last year.
Israir VP, Sales and Marketing Gil Stav said, "Results again show that when it comes to vacations, specifically family vacations, the Israeli client chooses to buy an overall package and therefore get the most profitable experience. Most Israir passengers bought an overall tourist product including hotels and organized tours, and not only flights."
He added, "We have also seen other company segments growing, such as vacation packages using foreign carrier charter flights and organized tours with non-Israir flights. The same trend is also evident in the destination map - with destinations such as Romania, Bulgaria and Georgia - which have profitable packages, also showing an impressive growth."
