Eurocom will shortly start selling Motorola Mobility smartphones in Israel. As "Globes" reported last December, Eurocom conducted prolonged negotiations with Chinese company Lenovo, which bought Motorola Mobility for $2.9 billion in early 2014.
Eurocom will offer two models: the Moto G, for NIS 1,200, and the Moto X Play, for NIS 2,500. The telephones will initially be sold at mobile telephone stores, and later by the mobile carriers.
The Moto G is water resistant to a depth of one meter for half an hour. It has a 5-inch HD screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB storage that can be expanded with a memory card. The telephone's camera has a 13 megapixel sensor, and the battery has a 2470 milliampere hour (mAh) capacity.
The X Play has a 5.5 inch full-HD screen, two Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 quad-core processors, 17 GHz and 1 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB or 32 GB storage, expandable with memory cards. The camera has a 21 megapixel sensor, and the battery has a 3630 mAh capacity.
"We are delighted to bring Motorola's advanced, high-quality telephones to Israel, providing a solution for the Israeli looking for quality at a reasonable price," said Eurocom CEO Ilan Grinboim, "Motorola is one of the range of brands that Eurocom distributes in Israel, and it complements our broad product offering."
Eurocom markets smartphones imported from Chinese company ZTE, smartphones marketed under the Uniden brand, and Microfsoft's Lumia handsets. The launch of the Motorola models will enable Eurocom to become an alternative to the welter of smartphone brands available in Israel.
