CEO Iris Barel was also fined NIS 50,000 for violating terms of the merger with Sifri.
Bookseller Steimatzky Group will pay a fine of NIS 1.5 million and CEO Iris Barel will pay a fine of NIS 50,000, which will not be indemnified, for violating the terms set by the Antitrust Authority for the 1995 merger with publisher Sifri Hebrew Book Distribution Center Ltd.
The public will have 30 days to comment on today's plea bargain reached by Antitrust Authority director general David Gilo, Steimatzky and Barel, after which it will be sent to the Antitrust Tribunal for approval.
The Antitrust Authority opened the investigation into Steimatzky in 2011 for violating the terms of its merger with Sifri. Under the terms, Steimatzky could not restrict Sifri's commercial relations with its customers.
