Steimatzky has won an Israel Airports Authority tender to operate two bookstores at Ramon Airport in Timna, near Eilat. One of the two stores, in the new airport, which is scheduled to open by the end of the year, will be located in the hall for outgoing passengers, and the other will be in the area open to the general public. The franchise is for five years.
Commenting on her company's winning the tender, Steimatzky VP sales Lilach Attali said that it was an important development for the chain, which "constitutes a considerable source of cultural and leisure consumption, reflected in the stores' strategic location at the entrance to and exit from Israel."
At the same time, Steimatzky has continued its expansion by opening five new stories in the past two months in Kiryat Gat, Nahariya, Haifa, Modi'in, and Modi'in Moriah. Five more branches are scheduled for opening in the coming months, one of them in the renovated Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport.
